Sushi Rolls
Ingredients
- 300 g Sushi rice
- 4 sheets Nori
- 60 ml Rice vinegar
- 1 tbsp Sugar
- 1 tsp Salt
- 1 Cucumber , sliced
- 1 Avocado , sliced
- 200 g Raw fish (e.g., salmon, tuna)
- Soy sauce, for serving
- Pickled ginger, for serving
- Wasabi, for serving
Instructions
1. Prepare the sushi rice by rinsing it under cold water until the water runs clear. Cook the rice according to package instructions, then let it cool.
2. In a small bowl, mix rice vinegar, sugar, and salt until dissolved. Gently fold this mixture into the cooled rice.
3. Lay a sheet of nori on a bamboo mat, shiny side down. Wet your hands and spread a thin layer of sushi rice over the nori, leaving a small border at the top.
4. Place your choice of fillings in a line across the center of the rice. Options include sliced cucumber, avocado, and raw fish.
5. Using the bamboo mat, carefully roll the sushi away from you, applying gentle pressure to keep it tight. Seal the edge of the nori with a little water.
6. Use a sharp knife to slice the roll into bite-sized pieces. Wipe the knife with a damp cloth between cuts for clean slices.
7. Serve the sushi rolls with soy sauce, pickled ginger, and wasabi on the side.
