Two different things, on purpose

The people you live with. Everyone in a kitchen sees and edits the same recipes, the same meal plan and the same shopping list. You invite them with a link, and nobody has to follow anybody.
The cooks you follow
Everyone else. You can read their recipes and copy them, but you never change anything of theirs — and they never see your plan or your shopping list.
How following works
1. Ask for their @username
Every kitchen has one. Type it in exactly, or let them send you their follow link and skip the typing.
2. They approve you
A follow is a request, not a subscription. Nothing of theirs is visible until someone in that kitchen says yes.
3. Cook their food
Their recipes appear in your Following feed — recently added, recently cooked, most loved. Copy any of them into your own collection.
A copy that keeps up
When you copy a recipe it stays tied to the original. If they fix the flour quantity next month, you get a notification — one tap and your copy catches up, while keeping your own notes and your own cook count.
Unfollow and your copies stay yours. They simply stop tracking the original.
What stays private
- Your recipes are not public. Only followers you have approved can see them.
- Usernames are matched exactly. There is no directory to browse and no search by name or email.
- Your meal plan and your shopping list never leave your own kitchen.
- Followers read your recipes. They can never edit them.
Questions people ask
Can the people I approve see all my recipes?
Yes. Approving a follower opens every recipe in your kitchen, not a selection — there is no per-recipe setting. Approve the people you would hand your recipe box to.
What happens to my copies if I unfollow someone?
They stay in your collection and stay editable. They just stop tracking the original, so you will not be told about changes any more.
Can they change a recipe I copied?
No. Your copy is yours. When they edit the original, your copy tells you and offers to update — you decide whether it does.
Do I need an account?
Yes, and a kitchen. WhatsCook works without an account, but following needs somewhere for people to follow back to.
