Rice and Beans
Ingredients
- 200 g Rice
- 400 ml Water
- 1 tsp Salt
- 1 Can (400g) beans
- 1 tbsp Oil
- 1 onion , chopped
- 2 cloves Garlic, minced
- 1 tsp Cumin
- 1 tsp Chili powder
Instructions
1. Rinse the rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
2. In a pot, combine the rinsed rice, water, and salt. Bring to a boil over medium heat.
3. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for about 18 minutes until the rice is tender and the water is absorbed.
4. While the rice is cooking, rinse the beans and drain them.
5. In a separate pan, heat oil over medium heat. Add chopped onion and garlic, sauté until softened.
6. Stir in the beans, cumin, and chili powder. Cook for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
7. Once the rice is done, fluff it with a fork and serve it topped with the bean mixture.
